Boksburg beats Brakpan

Boksburg Rugby Club will take on Springs Rugby Club in the next match.

Boksburg Rugby Club clinched a 26-22 victory against old rivals Brakpan Rugby Club on home soil in the Valke Peregrine League at Prince George Park on April 1.

The match started with the teams attacking each other, and because of the pressure Brakpan received from the home side, they committed a foul in the early minutes of the game, and Boksburg earned a penalty.

PJ Beukes converted the penalty, and the home side was in the lead.

The visitors immediately responded, and a player of theirs scored a try after a good run from the middle of the field but failed to convert a conversion. The scoreline was 5-3. Brakpan led the match.

Brakpan scored a try but failed to convert another conversion, nevertheless extending their lead to 10-3 going into halftime.

In the second quarter, Boksburg pulled out a good run from the left flank to score a try and Beukes converted a conversion. With the scores equal, the excitement mounted.

The home team was awarded another penalty, and Beukes converted. Boksburg led 13-10. Boksburg again scored a try and converted a conversion. The home side increased its points to 20-10.

Brakpan immediately retaliated and scored a try and conversion, and it seemed like the away side was catching up to Boksburg as the scoreline was 20-17.

Boksburg got another penalty that increased its score to 23-17 and later scored another penalty. The scoreline was 26-17.

Brakpan scored a try before the final whistle but failed to convert a conversion. The final score was 26-22 in Boksburg’s favour.
