BAC runners feel the love

They all enjoyed the run.

The Boksburg Athletic Club (BAC) athletes enjoyed an 8km social run to celebrate Valentine’s Day on February 14.

According to the club secretary and race organiser, Caronn Harris, 18 runners took part in the opportunity to express how they felt about Valentine’s Day.

“Each runner wore colours representing what Valentine’s Day means to them. Some male runners wore their ‘Om die Dam’ race shirts because they are multi-coloured. They said the shirts expressed their appreciation for women, who love in many ways.

“Some opted to wear black and said Valentine’s Day doesn’t represent romance for them. But most runners wore pink and red to signify that the day represented romance to them.

“Other than the fact that the athletes had mixed feelings about Valentine’s Day, it was a fun run that everyone enjoyed and completed,” said Harris.

The race started at the Parkrand Shopping Centre and looped through the suburb back to the starting point.
“For me, Valentine’s Day means we must show romance, love and appreciation for one another.

“This is the best time for people to celebrate the day by going on dates and pampering each other,” said Harris.
