Bokamoso, Bonaero split points in a league match

Bokamoso FC (Boksburg FC) drew 1-1 in a thrilling encounter against Bonaero 74 Ladies during the Ladies Blue Stream League match played at the Bonaero Sports Complex on October 21.

The game ended in a 1-1 draw. Bokamoso FC kicked off the match on a high tempo, instantly launching attacks but failing to capitalise.

Bonaero equally responded to the attack with a good interchange play, but their striker Charleen Watts couldn’t score a goal from a good square pass, which came from the left winger of the home team.

The striker of Bonaero pulled out a long-range shot after she failed to put the square pass in the net, but it was saved by the goalkeeper of Bokamoso FC.

The striker also received another opportunity in the 20th minute from a mistake of Bokamoso’s goalkeeper but shot wide. It was a fierce battle for ball possession in the middle of the field. Bonaero 74 was awarded a free kick when their winger was fouled by the defender of Bokamoso, but the free kick was also saved.

Immediately after the failed attempt, Bonaero’s striker pulled out a stunning shot that caught the goalkeeper of the home side off-guard and it went inside the net. Bonaero led the match 1-0 before halftime.

Bokamoso immediately responded with a quick play, but their striker couldn’t equalise. The away side enjoyed a penalty opportunity when captain Mathepelo Mabitla created an opportunity out of nothing.

The penalty was converted by the team’s defensive midfielder Sbongile Khoza. Bokamoso and Bonaero continued to press but failed to convert. When Sbongile Khoza was interviewed by the Advertiser at the end of the match she said that she is happy that she scored.

“I was not expecting to score today although I have done so for the team in the past matches,” she said.
She added that she hopes to score more goals in the league.
