Parkdene’s Tia Naidoo shines with dedication and hard work

The St Dominic's, is set to compete in the Gauteng Championships on August 9 and 10 at the Matsport Centre in Eldoraigne.

At just 10 years old, Tia Naidoo from Parkdene is testament to how talent and effort are the fruits of focus, hard work and determination.

The St Dominic’s, is set to compete in the Gauteng Championships on August 9 and 10 at the Matsport Centre in Eldoraigne.

She qualified for the championships by competing in Artistic Gymnastics under the Ekurhuleni District Gymnastics colours.

Her journey in gymnastics began at the age of seven, fueled by a passion that has only grown over the years.

“ Tia initially started with dancing, but her real love was gymnastics,” said her mother, Deirdre Naidoo.

“I remember her saying that her dream of becoming a gymnast would come true. She would watch videos on YouTube and practice gymnastics at home.

“We then realised she needed proper training to avoid getting hurt, so we enrolled her at Boksburg Gym and Tumbling, where she has been training ever since.”

The gymnast’s dedication to gymnastics has earned her numerous accolades.

My daughter excels and I am very proud that she qualified for this championship.

“ Gymnastics is her passion, and I support her in every way possible.”

Balancing school and gymnastics is no small feat, but creative talent manages it with poise.

“Her grades are always up and is an all-rounder.

Managing her time is what she does best. She is easy-going and self-motivated.”

The competitor’s training schedule is rigorous.

“She trains every Monday and Wednesday for three and a half hours, and on Thursdays, she attends tumbling classes for an hour and a half.

“Since qualifying for the championships, she also trains on Fridays.

“Tia is currently at level five in her skills and age category, continuously mastering the skills required to advance to higher levels, she added.

In addition to her gymnastics prowess, Tia is also an art enthusiast, known for her creativity and love for cooking and baking.
