Youngsters get active at sport encouragement day

Youngsters had the opportunity to play netball, soccer and touch rugby.

There was a hive activity at Laerskool Goudrand during Boksburg North Sector Four CPF’s sports encouragement day, held in conjunction with Boksburg North SAPS, on July 6.

The aim of the event was to encourage youngsters to play sports.

Youngsters from the ages of 12 to 18 could participate in netball, soccer and touch rugby tournaments.

The teams did not only play for fun as the winning teams received a cash prize.

Youngsters enjoyed the opportunity to play soccer at the sports encouragement day.

Another highlight of the event is that the children were given food, sweets and popcorn to enjoy.

Boksburg North CPF chairperson, Mark Gilpin, described the event is a success.

“It was a fun-filled event that was enjoyed by over 100 children. It’s important for learners to get the opportunity to discover and develop skills, which this day gave them. It was wonderful to see the joy that the day provided for the learners,” said Gilpin.

Gilpin expressed his gratitude to stakeholders such as AAA Alarms and Quickmack Crating for contributing to the success of the event.
