Owls go down to NWU

The Owls lost 52-30 to Brakpan in their first Valke Peregrine League match.

It was a tough day at the office for the Boksburg Rugby Club (BRC) when its teams took on North West University (NWU) in the Valke Peregrine League at PG Park on June 8.
NWU defeated the Owls’ first team 22-52.

Despite the loss, the club’s vice chairperson, Louis D’Aubre, is positive the team will soon find their stride.

“It is still early in the season, with all our teams only playing their second game of the league. There are many positives to be taken from these games, and we have no doubt they will improve as the season progresses,” said D’Aubre.

U21
A hard-fought match by BRC’s U21 team resulted in a 7-21 loss to NWU.

D’Aubre said the Owls’ youngsters put up a strong fight but came up short on the day.

“It is still early in the season, and Boksburg Club management is confident this team will go through to the playoffs,” said the vice chairperson.

Second team
NWU convincingly won 55-7 against BRC’s second team.

According to D’Aubre, the community getting behind the club is vital.

The club managers urge players 18 and older to join them and called on potential sponsors to contact the club.
