Local rugby talent spicing things up in France

The talented athlete said what he loves about the game is that it’s meant for everybody.

Former Boksburg Rugby Club player Kelebogile Lemotlo, also known as Spice, is now putting his rugby skills to the test in France.

The 24-year-old recently joined French rugby club Plouzanè AC.

Spice, a former Valke player and Hoërskool Voortrekker High learner said he got the opportunity to play overseas after uploading clips on YouTube of himself playing rugby.

“I also included my contact details.”

About his time in France, Spice said he is having a blast.

“France is great, honestly. I’m enjoying my time here. It’s winter so very cold, which I don’t like but I’m adapting pretty well.”

Despite the enjoyment of the experience, Spice was quick to add there is a lot of hard work ahead.

“There is still a long way to go. I want to improve my game all around and experience different cultures in other countries.”

What does he think he can bring to Plouzané?

“It’s not easy to talk about your qualities and skills, but I think I’m a rather unifying person, who doesn’t shy away from working hard. In Plouzané, I think I can help other players to have a more positive attitude.”

Spice started playing rugby when he was in Grade Three.

The talented athlete said what he loves about the game is that it’s meant for everybody.

“The friends you make after a rugby game go a long way. I’ve made many friends through rugby. I also love that there is always a lesson you take away from a match, “ said Spice.

He said he looks up to his sister because she is a hard-working person.

“She instilled in me that if you want something you must work hard for it.”

Spice said he has many goals, not only for rugby but also for life in general.
