Fun day helps Boksburg FC to grow

The club was impressed with how many people supported the event.

The Boksburg Football Club (Boksburg FC) held a successful fun day at Prince George Park on September 30.

Heinrich Loxton, the Boksburg FC U15 coach, said the event’s main objective was for all old and new parents to get to know each other and build relationships with possible local sponsors.

He explained that the initiative was implemented about three years ago when they invited special guests like Willem Jackson and Martin Carelse and the local rugby club, East Rand United, and East Rand Cricket Club.

“Every year, we do a theme-based event. This year, it was province versus province. We invited an academy from Polokwane (Shooting Stars Academy) with all their age groups from U8 to U18. There were also two exhibition matches, parents versus coaches and BFC Ladies versus RP Ladies.”

The results were as follows:
U8: BFC 5-4 SSA
U10: BFC 3- 8 SSA
U11: BFC 0-3 SSA
U12: BFC 3-2 SSA
U13 BFC 4-5 SSA
U15 BFC 10-1 SSA
U18 BFC 4-4 SSA

Loxton said the event enjoyed good support.

“I was impressed with the support from our community, but I must mention, there were also several people, parents and supporters, who drove from Polokwane to support our day.

“It is important for the club to host such events to grow and strengthen our friendships with local or surrounding football clubs, maintaining players and possibly potentially recruiting new players,” he added.
