Blackball United players on the up

The players are excited to join the Eastern squads.

Eleven players from Blackball United were selected to be part of the Eastern Local Football Association squads that will participate in the Inter District Tournament from September 30 to October 1.

Thereafter, the squads will tour Durban from October 4 to 8.

The Eastern squads will comprise players from various teams on the East Rand.

Out of the 11 Blackball United players who made the Eastern squads, two need a donation of R6 000 each to cover their costs for the tournament. These include buying tracksuits and travelling expenses.

The chairperson and head coach of Blackball United, Muzi Masuku, said the players playing in the Eastern squads would get the necessary exposure.

“That’s good for any player. They get a chance to learn different playing techniques and an opportunity to be scouted and play at a professional level.

“Eastern soccer badges will be added to their school blazers, and that alone will give the boys a morale boost,” explained Masuku.

He added that the boys were excited to be selected and given the opportunity.

“They believe this is an opportunity for their talents to be recognised, and it could improve their soccer careers.

“This is not only an accolade for the boys but for the Blackball United soccer club itself. Our work as a club is slowly showing positivity. Honestly, as a head coach and chairperson of the club, I believe in my boys’ abilities,” stated Masuku.

He said he thanked his coaches because they had done a stunning job in training the soccer players.
