Blackball United U11 undefeated after three league matches

The Blackball United U11 A team will face Alberton FC in their next match.

Blackball United U11 A team continued its winning streak by thrashing arch-rivals The Football Institute 8-2 in a league match on June 3.

The team, undefeated in their last three matches, increased its points to 13 to sit third on the Easterns league log.
The most-anticipated match of the day, saw both teams going toe to toe. The teams were in attack mode but failed to captalise on crucial opportunities in the early minutes of the match.

Njabulo Molatana, a striker of the home side (Blackball United), broke the deadlock in the 25th minute and scored the first goal for the home side to lead by 1-0.

The goal came from the home side’s good touches, which began in the middle of the park. Immediately after the first goal, the home side looked more deadly but failed to score in the crucial moments.

The visiting side equalised through Wisdom Maduka.

Blackball dominated the possession, and their Mikateko Khoza unleashed a lethal shot outside the penalty box. However, it went wide and did not trouble the well-positioned shot-stopper.

Lindo Mthombeni didn’t miss the opportunity to add his name to the score sheet by pulling out a low-level shot that passed the goalkeeper to go straight into the net. The home side led 2-0 going into halftime.

When the match resumed, the on-fire Mikateko unleashed another long-range shot, but the goalie stopped the ball.

Homeside player Taylor Vandersandt had an opportunity after a clearing mistake from the visiting goalkeeper, but he scooped the ball over the net.

Mthombeni scored a brace and increased the score to 3-1. Floyd Thobela extended the lead to 4-1. The home side cruised through the game, and Snethemba Skhosana scored the fifth goal. Molatana also scored a brace, and Blackball led 6-1.

The visiting side retaliated and grabbed its second goal through Mathew Nkomba’s long-range shot that went past the goalkeeper. The scoreline was 6-2.

Blackball quickly responded, and Molatana scored a hat trick. Blackball extended its lead to 7-2. Molatana later sealed the deal when he scored his fourth goal from a good cross by Vandersandt.

The coach of the Blackball U11 A team, Bongani Mtombeni, said he was happy with his team’s performance.

“We won today and won the last three matches we played. That’s good for my players because it will boost their confidence for the next game. I think we won the matches because we played direct and offensive football.

“We will face Alberton FC in our next league match, and we aim to win so we can increase our points and goals in the log,” said Mtombeni.
