Boksburg Cardinals Senior B baseball team conquered Japan Express on home soil in the Winter League Major B match on May 21.
Cardinals beat Express 24-12.
Great batting from the home side’s batsmen in the first quarter of the match gave them the upper hand from the beginning of the match.
Liam Karels and Mark du Plessis pitched well for the home side, eliminating the batters of the visiting side.
Christopher de Wet assured a win for the home side with a grand slam.
De Wet was instrumental as a batsman in the Cardinals winning the match.
In another match, Boksburg Senior A lost 9-4 against Randburg Mets in the Winter League Major A match. Raiders thrashed Cardinals 27-4 on the day.
The junior chairperson of the Cardinals, Christopher de Wet, said it is great to have all the senior teams back on the field and their families supporting them.
Cardinals also introduced 15 players that will be joining their Senior B side.
