Brits triumphs in Italy

Brits is happy to get his pro-card.

Impala Park bodybuilder Jannie ‘JJ’ Brits ensured victory in the IBFF Mister and Miss Universe competition in Taranto, Italy, on May 27.

The dedicated and hardworking athlete secured his pro card after progressing to the finals and then winning the overall competition.

Brits thanked everyone who helped him get to Italy.

“Winning any competition abroad is a feeling you cannot describe, especially when you know that you have given everything. That makes winning a thousand times more special.

“In bodybuilding you will never have the assurance of winning because you don’t know your competitors or their preparations,” he said.

“You can only focus on what you can do on stage and then leave everything to the judges. I think I won because of my body’s condition and symmetry. I personally believe my body stood out.

“The battle was stiff on stage. I think the top three competitors were not that far apart on points,” he expressed.
Brits trained for just over three months for the prestigious event.

“I focused on only eating healthy meals that wouldn’t affect my progress and didn’t miss any training sessions.

“Obtaining my pro card abroad was always my dream. I believe it’s any bodybuilder’s dream. This achievement was special for me because I devoted my life to it as an athlete.”

Brits is the first IBFF athlete to receive a pro card in a classic bodybuilding category.

“This to me is a massive achievement, because I get to set an example for other athletes. I will be competing in the All Africa Cup on September 16, in the pro line up,” he concluded.
