Boksburg clinch league

They are determined to win the play-off match.

The Boksburg Bowling Club won the section A first division of the Ekurhuleni District League and it is now heading to the playoffs against Avion, the section B champions.

Boksburg beat Redding on February 4. The play-off match will take place at Edenvale Bowling Club on February 18.

A club member Grant Sloane said he feels great that they have won the league, but it wouldn’t have been possible without all the players’ efforts.

“We played in a tough section and the league could have gone to the other two clubs contesting the title. We won the league by a 2.5 points margin,” he said.

Sloane explained that two sections make up the division one league.

“Our win in the division sees us promoted to the premier league, but first we play the winner of section B to determine the overall division winner.”

He said this is a proud milestone for the club, which is 106 years old.

“I believe the team is motivated and committed to winning as a team and not as individuals. Our eight players and reserves played an important role in us winning our league section this year,” he said.

Club president Ian Croasdale said he is proud of his team.

“We knew we could win. We hope to bring the cup home,” said Croasdale.
