Coach invited back to Legends squad

The first coach of the owls is determined to do well for the SA Rugby Legends' team.

The first team coach of the Owls (Boksburg Rugby Club) Reg Muller has been playing good rugby for the SA Rugby Legends since his selection in 2021 and has again been selected to join the team for the 2022/2023 tournaments.

“I feel honoured to be elected to be play for the SA Rugby Legends again.

“It’s a great achievement. When I was called-up I was surprised. To be selected you need to have played at least 100 super rugby games, played South African rugby and be over 35.

“I’m only turning 37 this year and I feel proud of myself, because I have been asked to play in my fourth tournament. We played our last tournament in December.”

Muller started playing rugby when he was 19, just after he matriculated.

“I have played more than 100 games for the Valke and Springbok 7s, as well as the Sharks and Lions junior and senior teams.

“In that spell I played against and with many of the best players, like Marius Schoeman, Schalk Brits, Phillip Burger, Sarel Pretorius, Hanno Coetzee, Zane Kursner, Grant Esterhuysen and Ryno Benjamin.

“I have been in the Rugby fraternity for 14 years and coached for four years.

“Rugby players that I look up to now are Joe van Niekerk, Duane Vermeulen and Siya Kolisi, who are also all in the current SA Rugby Legends squad,” said Muller.
