Sensei inducted into Wall of Fame

Sensei Takis Chaniotakos is happy to be honoured along with his students and colleague.

Sensei Takis Chaniotakos of the New World Shotokan (NWS) Dojo was inducted into the Gauteng Karate Federation (GKF) Wall of Fame on July 30 for his long-standing contribution to the development of the sport.

The sensei, who ranks as a 6th dan, has been involved in the karate fraternity for over 40 years and is currently the chairman of the Ekurhuleni Karate Federation.

“I believe I received this recognition as I’m constantly on a quest to improve my skill set. In my position as chairman, I have learned a lot too.

“My passion and commitment for the sport have earned me an A-class refereeing accolade.

“I would like to also congratulate my friend and colleague, sensei Louis Ramakulukusha, who received the best coaching award and was recognised as the best senior and veteran coach.

“Louis is also going to don the Gauteng Karate Federation colours. One of my students, Kayleen Chetty, also made me proud to make it into the 2022 Gauteng Karate Federation. She was also honoured for being the best cadet in the U14 – 15 age group.

Chetty said she was happy to receive the award and don the Gauteng colours.
“I didn’t expect it and I am happy that my hard work is paying off, “ she said.

Gina Corregedor was recognised for her good work as the general secretary of the federation.
