Boksburg carp angler shines in fishing challenge

Raper described his performance as a great achievement

Parkrand resident Mark Raper made his team (Carp Knights) proud at the 2022 Donnies Monster Carp Winter Challenge, held in Western Area, over the weekend of June 24-26.

The highly contested competition saw 20 teams, with two carp anglers per stand from different parts of the country, battling the cold weather while fighting for the top spot.

Raper came third in the competition after having caught a 14.22kg common carp, and his spot earned him a stunning prize.
He described his performance as a great achievement, saying he fought in a gruelling epic battle.

“It was most challenging, putting up with the biting cold weather and competing against high-calibre fishers at the toughest fishing venues in the country.
“I look forward to the summer challenge to be held in October,” said Raper.
