Boksburg FC defeats Golden Express in a friendly match

Boksburg FC senior team beat Golden Express FC 3-2 in a friendly match at Boksburg Stadium on April 13.

Both teams were using the match to prepare for the upcoming weekend’s FC Porto Easter Tournament that will take place in Reiger Park from April 15-18.

The home team opened the deadlock through a cracking long-range shot from defender Verdon ‘Sixteen’ Norman.

A few minutes later, Golden Express FC equalised through their midfielder Rudean Peters, resulting from a good interchange play.

Boksburg’s right-winger Thabang Modiba was substituted after suffering an injury to the foot. He was tackled when firing a shot that rattled the upper goalpost.

The midfield battle intensified, with both teams trying to gain dominance. Striker Lwazi Stuurman scored for Boksburg from a corner kick following a counterattack.This left the score 2-1 at halftime.

Golden Express FC exerted great pressure on the home team in the second 45 minutes. The pressure eventually paid off as a foul led to a penalty for Express that was converted by Kamohelo Mabula.

With the clock running down, Boksburg FC’s midfielder Elsee Mwamba had the final laugh as he scored the winning goal for Boksburg.
