Opportunities for young footballers as Fulham FC comes to town

The training sessions will focus on key fundamentals of the game.

ProcampsUK will launch its second South African international camp at Boksburg Stadium from April 14 to 18.

The camp will be hosted by Superstars Academy, which has partnered with Football101 to bring the programme to Ekurhuleni.

“Football101 is in a partnership with ProcampsUK and Fulham Football Club. They ran a similar camp last year in Pretoria and we took 12 of our players to participate,” said Shan Naidoo, founder of Superstars Academy.

“They were really impressed with our players as many of them stood out among their peers. I invited them to host their training camp at our centre in Boksburg to cater for players around the Johannesburg area.”

He said the programme was designed to “further the skills and expertise of aspiring coaches and provide opportunities for young players to attend programmes and camps to develop their understanding and enjoyment of the game”.

Over the five days of the camp, Naidoo said that the players will be offered 10 hours of coaching and will work with coaching staff accredited by Fulham.

The training sessions will focus on key fundamentals of the game including technical ability, ball manipulation and shooting and finishing.

“It’s a great opportunity for our players to be trained by international coaches from a well-known UK club. It also exposes the talent we have and there might be opportunities to travel to the UK for some players.”

Naidoo added that sports consultancy firm BRUSA sports will be present at the camp. BRUSA has offered a number of athletes opportunities to further their studies abroad.

“We will also have BRUSA Sports, one of our strategic partners, at the camp, where they will be keeping a lookout for talented players who deserve a scholarship opportunity for USA Football.”
