Thundershowers, low temperatures and possible flooding warning for Gauteng

DEMS urges residents, motorists in particular, to be extra vigilant on the roads.

The South African Weather Service has issued a warning of low temperatures and possible flooding due to severe thundershowers expected on this weekend across Gauteng.

On account of this, DEMS said it is on high alert and ready to deal with possible flooding.
According to DEMS spokesperson William Ntladi, their teams are closely monitoring the weather conditions across the city to assist where necessary.

“Our main concern is the low-lying areas and low-lying bridges that are prone to flooding, and the informal settlement structures which are prone to fire. Residents should be on high alert when using different heat energy sources.
Ntladi also pointed out that the weather conditions could cause major disruptions to traffic flow on the City’s roads due to poor visibility and pooling of water on some major roads.
