Boksburg FC Vets thrashed Latins FC 3-1 in a thrilling face-off in the Easterns Local Football Association League at Boksburg Stadium on March 16.

Boksburg FC Vets mounted pressure on Latins FC immediately after kick-off but failed to score when their right-winger was ruled off-side. The opportunity was presented from a good interchange play from players of Boksburg FC in the first few minutes of the match.

Latins FC withstood the pressure from the home team but switched their playing strategy in the 20th minute, adopting a more offensive approach to the match.

The change of play paid off before the half-time whistle, as the defender of Boksburg FC Vets launched a dangerous attack on the striker of Latins FC, out of frustration, outside of the 18-yard box and that led to a free kick. The midfielder of the visiting team used the free kick wisely and converted it into a goal, and the home team started to lose their strong offensive approach to the match.

Their form was revived when their two coaches substituted a midfielder for another clinical midfielder, which instantly changed the dynamics of the game. The new substitute redeemed the home team’s confidence, and they played fantastic ball before the half-time whistle.

In the first minutes of the second half, both teams were battling it out in the centre of the field, but home team winger Cebo Gumede pulled out a cracker shot from outside of the 18-yard box, which levelled the score.
Immediately after the goal, Boksburg FC Vets gained momentum and scored another goal through their striker, Mbulelo Lolwane.

As the match headed towards the end, Lolwane continued to give the defenders of the visiting side trouble and increased the score to 3-1, sealing the home team’s fate to win the match.
