EFC on the return

Relief for MMA fighters!

Van Dyk Park MMA fighter Robert “9mm” Swanepoel has expressed his excitement to be finally going back into the hexagon, as sport on all levels continues to make a gradual comeback.

Swanepoel could hardly contain his jubilation when talking about his comeback to the fighting stage – this was after EFC released a statement about its comeback scheduled for May 8.

It will be the first event the fighting promotion company will host since the country went into lockdown almost exactly a year ago.
EFC has promised “mega fights, ground-breaking revolutionary changes to MMA and more” to be revealed shortly.

“I’m super stoked,” enthused 9mm about the news of EFC making its long-awaited return.

“I will be on the card but nothing is official yet,” he explained.

Responding to his physical condition going into the competition, the welterweight fighter said: “I never stopped training, so I’m in good shape and I’m fit and ready to go.”

The match-up – which has no stipulations according to Swanepoel – is still none less significant despite absent stipulations with the Boksburg striker’s professional record on the line now more than ever.

Swanepoel himself admitted that he could ill-afford to lose the fight as another loss could make life at EFC a lot harder for him.
“I have to win to stay in the mix, it will get harder to get fights with another loss to my record.”

With the MMA promotions company having continued to work tirelessly behind closed doors throughout the lockdown, it’s stated that one of the outcomes to this is that going forward, there will be over 30 of the largest TV channels in Africa that live EFC events and other EFC programming will be broadcast on, just to mention some of the progress made.

“We are excited about the future of EFC,” said EFC president Cairo Howarth.

“With this massive new audience that we are gaining, our athletes are really eager to get back in action and compete for the top spot. EFC has adapted to this situation and will be producing the highest quality product.

“Thanks so much to all our partners, athletes, coaches and the fans for all the support over the years.”
