CGA approves Qhubeka Athletic Club

Qhubeka AC ready to progress

Central Gauteng Athletics (CGA) has approved the existence of Qhubeka Athletic Club, the brainchild of former Boksburg Athletic Club chairperson Benzi Tenza with Maria Gumede and Hulikani Nyathi.

The approval letter from the sport’s governing body, drafted by CGA GM Mandla Radebe was delivered to Tenza on November 9.

In the letter Radebe welcomed the club “into the midst” of the CGA family and said he trusts the club joining them will be beneficial to the sport.
The name of the club, which was not revealed pending CGA’s approval, revolves around not giving up. Instead, it encourages athletes to “level up”, in line with the club’s motto.

Qhubeka can be interpreted as to keep going, proceeding, to never stop, and to keep on keeping on, said Tenza.
