Cardinals on baseball return

Department of sport set to confirm baseball return

There hasn’t been any baseball action up to this point despite a return of different sporting codes around the country.

Baseball is still awaiting for the go-ahead from the powers that be, according to Boksburg Cardinals president Gavin Bennett.

With the year at such an advanced stage, a return of the sport is likely to be next year, but Bennett has told the Advertiser that a response from the government is imminent.

“We have applied to the Department of Sport to allow us to train. We are awaiting confirmation from the minister as to when we will be allowed to train and play games,” confirmed Bennett.

“There are a lot of protocols that need to be adhered to and with anything there is a cost to it, such as sanitisers, screens, temperature monitors and more.

“If there are any companies who are willing to assist, it would be greatly appreciated.”
