I’m ready for Roarke – Tristan

Pride at stake for Boksburg's junior middleweight

Boksburg junior middleweight pugilist Tristan Truter has vowed not to make the same mistakes he did in the first round of the 4@War junior middleweight knockout tournament when he takes on Roarke Knapp at Emperors Palace on October 10.

All smiles and relaxed throughout his interview with the Advertiser at his Hammer Gym stable in Boksburg, Truter said he was happy to be back in the squared circle.

He lost to former MMA star Boyd Allen in the first round of the tournament.

According to Golden Gloves, both Knapp and Truter, who lost their respective semi-final bouts when the tournament kicked-off late last year, stand a chance to create an opportunity for themselves should they win.

A former South African amateur and ABU welterweight champion, Truter put up an epic showing against Allen, but was unfortunately outlasted in the very last round of the bout via TKO.

This was an ending which prompted his trainer Harold Volbrecht to question the referee’s stoppage which resulted in the loss.

“I’m glad the fight is happening now and not later,” said Volbrecht.

“I think Brandon Thysse is going to beat Boyd Allen in the final so I am hoping that we could then get a rematch against Boyd.”

In the other semi-final match-up of the 4@War tournament, Thysse defeated Knapp putting him in a collision course with Allen for the right to be dubbed the best junior middleweight around.

The time for talking is almost over and October 10 guarantees to end all lingering debates when it comes to these four top pugilists.
