Paddlers finalise preparations ahead of Dusi

The Dusi, one of the world’s most famous and toughest endurance canoeing events, takes place between February 27 to 29.

The Victoria Lake Canoe Club (VLC) hosted the final Dusi training race at Germiston Lake on the evening of February 11.

It’s a gruelling three-day, 120km stretch from Pietermaritzburg to Durban with numerous places where boats are unable to navigate and paddlers have to run up hills, through bush and muddy banks to get back to the river.

Boksburg’s very own Leon Maritz completed the Dusi training event at VLC in a time of 1 hour and 24 minutes and is looking forward to taking on the Dusi come month-end.
