Nel contributes to the Gallery of Champions

Street art and tattoo designs are the main inspiration behind each piece of his art.

Boksburg North illustrator Corné Nel recently made his mark in SuperSport’s initiative, the Gallery of Champions.

The Gallery of Champions saw the commissioning of five South African up-and-coming artists who completed three illustrations, each of South African rugby players.

From September 9 to September 13, SuperSport auctioned the A1 original prints and all proceeds from the auction went to rugby development through SuperSport’s corporate social investment, Let’s Play.

Explaining how he got involved in the campaign, Nel told the Advertiser: “A gentleman named Mike Sharman sent out a tweet looking for South African illustrators and my name was mentioned in there. I was then contacted and asked if I would like to be involved.

“The SuperSport campaign is a launch campaign for the Springboks.”

Born and raised in Boksburg, Nel began his Never for Fame brand that has seen impressive growth in the five years since its inception.

Possessing a more aggressive visual appeal, Never for Fame strives for a balance between elegant and alternative aesthetics.
