TW Boksburg enjoy a thrilling win against TUT

The PG Park outfit has had an indifferent start to their campaign following three wins, including this one, and two losses in their first five games of the trophy. One of their two losses was a winnable tie away to North-West University, but it wasn’t meant to be.

TW Boksburg Rugby Club have given their supporters a reason to smile again with a 33-14 win over Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) in their Volcano Trophy clash in Pretoria on May 25.

The club again looked like they were in for a long day in the early hours in Pretoria when their second and third sides lost 50-12 and 40-26 respectively, but the big boys ensured that Boksburg have the last laugh, accompanied by the ever-crucial bonus point.

It was again the usual suspects who saw Boksburg through as Damian Diedericks, who can’t seem to stop scoring, Prince Mofokeng, Martin van Wyk, Brandon Swart and captain Johan Labuschagne each crossed over the whitewash.

Fly half Henry Pike converted three of his side’s five-pointers, with Swart adding another as Francois Erasmus’ men ensured they remain in the top four of the 10-team log.

A jubilant Labuschagne said: “Oh, it was awesome!

“Probably the most physical game we had this year. They had a heavy team, but we managed to defend the hell out of them even with their big lads. So I can’t complain at all.

“We are finally becoming a team and everyone trusts one another more than ever before. I think that leads to great defence as well.” – @SabeloBoksburg
