Excitement builds for the national High School Career Expo

The events that run over two days at an venue are free to attend.

The High School Career Expo has announced the dates for its national tour starting off at Greenstone Mall from January 25 to 26.

This careers exhibition is designed to provide both primary and middle school students with opportunities and guidance for choosing a high school and selecting their subjects.

For the older teenagers in attendance, the expo is also designed to assist and equip the youth with the necessary tools to succeed in high school, tertiary education and beyond.

“The High School Career Expo targets thousands of young individuals from all walks of life as well as their parents, education institutions, private sector businesses and even government officials,” says says Heidi from the expo.

“All primary, middle and high school children and parents can learn more about the public and private high schools including special programs, extracurricular activities and admissions criteria.

“You can find out which high school is most suitable for your child’s future.”

She said prospective students will be able to meet with representatives from a wide range of universities, technikons, colleges and other tertiary institutions.

“They will also gain insight and career advice from leading field specialists to better understand the expectations and roles of their potential professions.

“The Student Expo aims to feed students with valuable knowledge to make educated decisions regarding their future through discussions and presentations.

“Students can also learn how to secure student loan and even bursaries. They will get advice on how to manage finances when living away from home, should you take a gap year or not as well as share information with other school leavers and parents.”

She said the expo will be hosting live talks and interactive programmes throughout the national tour.
