Parkrand learner heading to Brazil to play in IBER Cup

The annual tournament sees more than 1 800 teams from 80 different countries compete and features global giants the likes of FC Barcelona, Chivas Guadalajara and Paris St Germain, to list a few.

SuperSport United Soccer Schools and local star Langa Masuku has been chosen to represent the SuperSport United Junior Academy u-9 team in the IBER Cup in Brazil next year.

The tournament is scheduled to run between January 14 and 20.

During this year’s school soccer season, the young midfielder won a Player of the Tournament accolade, Goal of the Tournament award and was named Man of the Match in the final.

His father is the junior coach responsible for unearthing highly praised Reiger Park youngster Zunad Ground.

Langa is also an Eastern League FA Cup and Premier League winner.

It’s a great achievement for the boys selected in their respective age groups, possibly life-changing, but like most great things in life it is costly and this is where the community comes in.

The fee per child is R31 000. The boys will be leaving for Sao Paulo, Brazil, a week earlier to train and prepare.

Wishful contributors can contact tour administrator Stephanie Aresti on 084 402 2022 or Langa’s father Muzi on 073 906 9084.
