Actonville Spurs beats CMH Boksburg by seven wickets

During Boksburg’s batting innings, wicket-keeper Kane Horwell, who’s enjoyed good form in most parts of the season thus far, finished as the host’s top run-getter with 24.

Actonville Spurs will probably not have an easier win this season following their seven-wicket bonus point victory over hosts CMH Boksburg at Prince George Park on November 4.

Sent to bowl first during the Eastern Cricket Premier League clash, Spurs would later take advantage of a lacklustre performance by the hosts, whose batting innings just didn’t get going.

One beneficiary from the host’s poor showing is Spurs captain and bowler Mekyle Pillay who took five wickets before his end product of 5/47 in nine overs of bowling, including a single maiden.

The Owls could only manage a total of 87 runs after 27.5 overs – a target the visitors overhauled seven overs less and with three batsmen.

Other wicket takers for Spurs were Hussein Ahmed, who took a hat-trick and Imraan Monack, who also starred in the chase, taking 2/8 in 3.5 overs.

Following Spurs’ opening batsman Mohammed Jogee’s dismissal for 10 runs, Monack and Ridwaan Daya took over, finishing with an unbeaten 42 and 18 respectively as Spurs walked away with maximum points.

Matthew Hollard’s numbers with the willow of 2/16 in five overs, ultimately proved as a personal consolation in a performance the hosts will fast want to move on from. – @SabeloBoksburg
