Community helps to make dream of star player come true

SuperSport played the hosts and Transition Football Academy in the group stages before being crowned champions, scoring an impressive 27 goals and conceding none in the process.

Local junior soccer coach Muzi Masuku has taken time to express his gratitude to the Boksburg community for making the dream of one of his star players become a reality.

The trainer, who visited the Advertiser offices last month with young ace Zunad ‘Zuzu’ Ground (8), said the feedback was positive and exceeded his expectations.

This was ahead of a proposed trip for Zuzu, who’s from Reiger Park, to travel with SuperSport United Soccer Schools to compete in a tournament which took place in George early this month.

The cost for the youngster to make it to the trip was priced at just under R5 000, with the coach then asking the public to trust in his belief in the young man’s talent and helping to make his trip to the Cape a possibility.

The youngster has since realised his dream and was part of SuperSport United Soccer Schools Boksburg (based at the East Rand Italian Club in Boksburg) u-9 team which competed at the George United Football Tournament.

A statement from SuperSport read: ‘There was plenty of excitement around this tour as some of the children who travelled had never been on a plane or to the sea before. We couldn’t wait to take them to the beach to play five-a-side beach soccer’.

According to the club, the boys played ‘fantastic football’ en route to the trophy and were a ‘joy to watch’, making SuperSport United proud.
