Boksburg Cricket Club signs Titans paceman

The new cricket is scheduled to get underway in October. The fixture dates will be released at a later date.

The Boksburg Cricket Club has received a boost during its preparations for the new 2018/2019 Eastern Cricket Premier League season with the signing of former Multiply Titans fast bowler Rowan Richards.

Richards, 34, who’s also formerly plied his trade for Pretoria sides Harlequins Cricket Club and Mamelodi Cricket Club, said he looks forward to being part of the squad’s bright future.

“I decided to go for the Boksburg CC because they are a very young team, and I believe I add value with my experience. I’m looking forward to the new challenge.”

Richards represented the Titans at a champions league in India and has also been voted the Sunfoil Series Player of the Year for the Titans.

His best bowling performance to date was during an encounter against the Cape Cobras where he took 7/ 40.

This is just a taste of the local club’s new acquisition.

Richards’ playing days began through mini cricket when he was 10. His role model in the game is Pakistan bowling idol, Wasim Akram, who is universally regarded as one of the best bowlers to play the gentlemen’s game.

The paceman, who resides in Benoni, attended John Bisseker Secondary School in East London before ascending to the University of the Western Cape.

The Boksburg Cricket Club will be competing with the likes of defending champion, Kempton Park, last year’s finalists Benoni Northerns and neighbours CBC Old Boys. – @SabeloBoksburg
