Harran takes Supermotard championship lead

The next round is at the iDube Raceway on June 30.

In a contrast turn of events, Sunward Park biker Brent Harran has managed to claw his way back into contention for Supermotard Championship glory and has put himself in a position to defend his crown.

This comes after coming close to repeating his perfect outing in Vereeniging in early April, where he won all of his three races to narrow the gap between him and then leader Greg Gildenhuys to three points.

The track in Vereeniging, it seems, has fast become a good hunting place for the local as his two number one finishes, coupled with one second place finish, saw him soar past Gildenhuys on the leaderboard last month, at the same track.

It’s a significant turnaround for Harran, who had finished ninth in the championship’s second meeting held in Polokwane, where he lost ground on Gildenhuys.

He vowed to make up for the then lost points and fast forward to June, that’s exactly what he’s done. – @SabeloBoksburg
