Forgettable day in Benoni for Boksburg FC

Kagisano Seforo netted the solo goal for the travelling Blues.

It was an afternoon which began with humiliation for the Boksburg Football Club as its senior team reserve side were at the wrong side of an 8-3 hiding by home side Benoni Northerns on Friday, June 15.

The senior side fared much better in the day’s main fixture but again Northerns proved too strong as they claimed a comfortable 3-1 victory.

The silver lining for the club arrived on Sunday, June 17, when its u-17 Super League team travelled to Olympia.

The Junior Blues have been in free-scoring form in recent outings and it spilled over to this one as Mphethe Moletsane scored at either side of the half-time break to hand the Blues an important 2-1 win. Half-time score was 1-1.

It was a successful follow-up to their away win against Randburg on Thursday, June 14.

Randburg drew first blood in the opening minutes of the encounter before Blues midfielder Karabo Morobe forced the game to go to half-time level at one-all.

The Blues took the lead for the first time through left winger Lefa Makofane, before Shane Radebe extended his side’s advantage with a top-corner placement past the Randburg goalkeeper.

Makofane handed the hot travellers and all but unassailable lead with his second to make it 4-1 before a late consolation by the hosts.

“My boys’ positioning was on point, chances were created and converted; a lot saved too. Our pressing was excellent and composure good,” said Blues tactician Ernest Seforo.

“Our focus was great and we were effective on and off the ball. Our attacking was top class, they deserved the win and three points were put in the Blue bag.” – @SabeloBoksburg
