Blues put up a good fight against Randburg
In the earlier curtain-raiser, Randburg defeated the Blues reserves 5-2. Lwazi Stuurman scored both goals for the local side.
Eastern Super League pace setters Randburg beat a brave Boksburg Football Club outfit 4-2 in Randburg on Saturday, May 12.
The Blues made a contest out of the game in the second stanza after a disastrous first half where they seemed to be heading for an embarrassing hiding.
The hosts, who were heavy favourites coming into the encounter, were on the money with a great start that helped them take a 3-0 lead going into the half-time break.
Boksburg, however, were a changed side following the break as they responded with two goals of their own courtesy of a Wesley Vollmer brace.
The deficit did ultimately prove too much as the hosts added one more to take a 4-2 win.
Quizzed on the half-time message, Blues coach Ernest Seforo said: “I just told them to be accurate and score goals. It’s getting better; at least we can now score goals compared to before.
“The performance was great, the game was well balanced and our goalkeeper, Catini Elisha, made some crucial saves; we would’ve settled for a draw.”
Elsewhere, the Blues u-17 were sunk 3-1 by Highlands Park in Gemmel Park on Sunday in their Super League clash. Sizwe Vilakazi netted the consolation for the Boksburg City Stadium outfit. – @SabeloBoksburg
