Owls bounce back at Kempton Park Rugby Day

The rugby day marked the 75th-anniversary celebration of the Kempton Park Rugby Club.

The Boksburg Rugby Club turned their fortunes around at the Kempton Park Rugby Day when they defeated hosts Kempton Park to spoil the party on February 24.

The Owls were back on track as their pre-season preparations continued with a convincing 48-33 victory over the hosts at the Barnard Stadium – Kempton Park’s home ground and the hub of Valke rugby.

Having come in at the back of a disappointing 33-36 home loss against the Pretoria-based Grizzlies a fortnight ago, Francois Erasmus’ men showed improvement.

All of Deon Smith, Forest Roos, Attie van der Nest and second-half replacement David Woolls crossed over the whitewash while Reggie Roux scored a hat-trick of tries.

The travellers were also handed a penalty try.

Stand-off Roos added two conversions with last man PJ Beukes converting one.
