Despite their contrast in fortunes in their respective matches on February 17, East Rand United and neighbours, the Boksburg Rugby Club, scored 11 tries between them as they continue to prepare for the fast-approaching new season.
United travelled to Johannesburg to the home of their opponents, the Union Rugby Club, where they arrived and dished out a rugby lesson.
The Reiger Park side crossed the whitewash six times with backs Cameron Rooi and Lourens Boddington adding the extras from the boot to give United a morale-boosting 40-11 victory.
Meanwhile, back at the arm-wrestling encounter at Prince George Park, the Owls scored five tries and somehow still managed to lose. But the five tries can only be a positive.
The tight affair ended 36-33 in favour of the visiting Grizzlies from Pretoria.
