Ramat named East Rand United’s Player of the Year

Ramat won two of the total four accolades which were up for grabs for the senior side. The United scrum half walked away with the 2017 East Rand United Player of the Year and the Senior Backline Player of the Year.

Another backline player won big in the u-21 side. Werner Coetzee was awarded the 2017 East Rand United Junior Player of the Year as well as the Junior Backline Player of the Year.

Meanwhile, United captain Fanie van Staden was named the Senior Forward Player of the Year.

Asked to describe his emotions when club operational manager Werner Pretorius read his name for the Player of the Season, Ramat said: “At that moment, I was overwhelmed with joy – I didn’t know how to react. I knew one day I’ll be rewarded for working so hard but I didn’t know it would be so soon. I thank God for my talent.

“This award means a lot to me and my family, more so for me to work harder than before. I have faith that I’ll be the best player in the world because hard work pays off,” continued the Number Nine before heaping praise on his uncle.

“I’d like to dedicate this award to my uncle Christie Noble because he always taught me to work hard and to believe in myself. He always motivated me to be the best rugby player.”
