Boksburg u-10s repeat Valke Junior League win

The Boksburg Youth Club u-10 side has been crowned Valke Junior League champions, repeating a feat they achieved last year when they defeated everyone put in front of them en route to league glory.

The core of the u-10 champions is made up of the 2016 team which enjoyed a perfect win record.

The squad is made up of players from Baanbreker, Concordia, Elspark Primary, Westwood and President Steyn Primary.

Out of their total 11 league outings – including the playoffs, the junior Owls only failed to win one encounter having drawn with Brakpan. They met the same opposition in their own backyard during the final and Marius Naude’s men came out top with a 14-12 win to be handed the Valke League crown.

“During every practice, there are three very important aspects that we discuss with the boys,” said Owls coach Naude.

“They are discipline; respect for each other and their coaches and to listen when spoken to and obey.

“The boys have all grown to be better people and we have seen them apply these principles in their day-to-day life.”

Naude is assisted by forwards coach Duane Pretorius, who led this team to u-9 league glory last year; backs coaches Roedolf Erasmus and Donovan Batt and team manager Annelize Erasmus.

All the coaching staff barring the team manager are still actively playing oldies rugby for the Boksburg Thunder Boys. – @SabeloBoksburg
