Bokke crowned champions of Action Hockey League

Boksburg ladies' hockey team Bokke Wiff Stokke were recently crowned champions of the Action Hockey League played at the Benoni Action Sports Arena

Stokke player Calcey van Tonder, who finished as the league’s top scorer, was also awarded the Player of the Season award.

Stokke’s sister team, Switch Play, which is made up of more junior players and which played in the same league as their seniors, finished fourth on the log.

“The teams played with so much heart and passion, which is any coach’s dream,” said coach Lindsay Wedel.

Champions: Zoe Robinson, Chanel Sandwell, Kelly Orr, Shelby Burton and Calcey van Tonder.

Stokke and Play are Wedel’s idea. The Ravenswood trainer formed the teams just before the beginning of the season this year.

The season ran between July and September.

The two teams had an internal prize-giving, which saw Van Tonder grab the Players Player of the Season.

Van Tonder’s teammate, Shelby Burton, was the runner-up of the award.

Milena Silva won the same award for Play, with Jenna Bishop finishing as the runner-up.
