Upcoming boxing talent galore at tournament

Bocal boxing club, Thunder Boxing Academy, held its inaugural boxing tournament at the Boksburg City Hall on September 16.

The amateur meeting saw boxers from all over Gauteng assemble to entertain local boxing fans.

The sports’ stars, such as WBC international minimumweight champion Deejay Kriel and superstar Tommy Oosthuizen, were also in attendance.

The afternoon’s action proved to be an ordeal for some of the young competitors, who, unlike their professional counterparts, shed a lot more tears than blood and sweat.

In one of the more entertaining bouts of the afternoon, Reiger Park’s Claudio Speelman forced his opponent, Brandon Mynhard, into submission in round two with a relentless combination of punches. The official stopped the fight after Mynhard barely survived round one.

Claudio Speelman lands a clean one on Brandon Myhard.

Meanwhile, Ruben Janse van Rensburg, son of Thunder Boxing Academy trainer Riaan, knocked out his opponent Timothy Groenewald in the first round.
