Blues stumble at Kempton

The Boksburg Football Club dropped more points in the ELFA Super League when they fell to a 1-0 away loss to Kempton Park on Thursday evening, May 25.

The Blues were looking to make amends after coming into the game at the back of a frustrating 3-all home draw against Robertsham after having taken a 2-goal lead twice.

But things didn’t go according to the script for the Blues, who were under the eye of assistant coach Neo Mabitsela in incumbent coach Melvin Kruger’s absence, as an early goal proved enough for the hosts.

Mabitsela said: “They edged us purely on match fitness and sharpness. We were a bit flat in the final third and couldn’t take our chances.

“The boys played well throughout the game and in the last 15 minutes we pressed for that equaliser but we just couldn’t convert,” he lamented.

“It got better when we played 4-4-2 as we had started with a defensive shape. They launched a few dangerous counters but the defence did well to clear the danger.”

The Blues’ road trip continues this Saturday, with a visit to face Germiston next. Kick-off is at 3.30pm.
