Adam Forbes leads Boksburg charge to victory

Captain Adam Forbes scored a half ton to lead the Boksburg Cricket Club past Bedfordview with a bonus point at the Prince George Park on Sunday, February 19.

Forbes finished with an unbeaten 56 as the local side secured maximum points for the second week running.

Forbes has grabbed the bull by thes horns as the side’s frontman. This was his second half ton in as many weeks in Boksburg’s resurgence this season.

Forbes led the chase, but it was his fellow bowlers who laid the foundation early on after the visitors were sent to bat first.

Nathan Kruger initiated the Bedford demise as he struck early with both the dismissals of the visiting openers Dylan Murray (23) and Riaan van Aardt, who walked back for nothing.

Spinners Chris Opperman and Derek Brand all but finished off the visitors by taking five wickets between them to help limit Bedford to a vulnerable 122 after 38 overs.

Opperman took a hat-trick of wickets, producing 3/28 in his allotted bowling overs, while Kruger, Brand and Heinrich Cronje all claimed braces.

“It’s good to come into some runs,” commented Forbes amid his leading performance.

“I struggled at the beginning of the season and I always scored 40s so it actually feels nice to score 50 for the second time in a row.”

It was a perfect weekend for brilliant Boksburg, with their junior sides completing the weekend whitewash.
