Boksburg back to winning ways thanks to Duckworth-Lewis method

The Boksburg Cricket Club claimed an all-important away win against United in their Eastern Cricket Premier League match on Sunday, February 5.

The local side put itself in a good position to claim the win after posting 165 after 49.3 overs of their batting innings, with Jarrod James top-scoring with an imposing 73.

Boksburg’s batting order otherwise faltered apart from James’ heroics with the other double-digit scorers all scoring less than 20 runs.

The home side won by 17 runs via the Duckworth-Lewis method.

In the bowling stakes, Chris Opperman produced numbers of 3/11 but it was United’s James de Nyschen who stole the bowling show. The bowler took 5/34 but unfortunately still ended on the losing side.

United finished their batting innings on 80/5 after 26 overs. They conceded the loss of all of Ryan Bond, Lodie Greef, Andie Johnson, Anthony Kruger and Matthew Stander.
