Swart crowned NABBA-WFF second princess

Sports model beauty Minka Swart was crowned the second princess in her women's junior bodybuilding class, after finishing third at the NABBA-WFF World Championships in Dublin, Ireland recently.

In a rare case of literature omen, the Advertiser predicted that Swart’s inclusion in Team SA would improve the chances for a Boksburg medal at the bodybuilding jamboree, in a pre-view article about her a few weeks back.

That was after the Advertiser had learned about the qualification of Boksburg triumvirate Rudolf Koen, Cindy Willemse and Rachel Chlup for the same event.

The portend has worked out as a good luck charm for the 19-year-old Swart, whose bronze medal is a token of pride not only for her person, but for Boksburg.

“I still can’t believe I had the opportunity to represent my country on an international stage; it feels surreal and it was an amazing experience,” she says.

“Placing third on an international stage is a massive honour and I’m so blessed – but small things weren’t in my favour: like my routine CD failing to play and the line-up switch ups almost got the best of me.

“The thing with competitive fitness, is that you’ll never be fully satisfied with yourself – you’ll always see areas for improvement and things that you could’ve done better or differently.

“For now I am happy with all that I’ve accomplished. I’ve come a lot further than I originally planned and I’m blessed with what I’ve achieved in my first year of competing – and my first international competition.”

The ravishing EG Jansen matriculant went on to vow to better herself come competition time next year; before expressing her gratitude to her supporters.

“I feel I could’ve given more and that I could’ve been better. All the lessons and learning curves add value; and I look forward to what the future holds for me and my teammates.

“Thank you to everyone who contributed to the trip. I couldn’t have done it without you; it meant the world to me. A special thank you to my coach, Julian Naidoo, for all his effort and for pushing me to new levels; and last but not least – to my parents and my two partners in-crime.

“You guys are so precious and I appreciate all you’ve done for me: from cooking 50 bunches of spinach to pep talks late at night, you guys are my rock!” – @SabeloBoksburg
