Boksburg bowling attack overpower Duduza

Boksburg bowling duo of Chris Opperman and Jarred James had a field day against Duduza’s batsmen as their combined six wickets secured a comfortable bonus-point win for the home side at Prince George Park.

James (3/14; one maiden) completed a magnificent hat-trick of wickets in just four overs while leg spinner Opperman did likewise in nine overs as the hapless visitors crumbled to 130 after 35 overs.

Boksburg veteran John Haywood also made a telling contribution off the leather with his 2/36 inside eight overs.

Duduza’s batting line had no answers to the Boksburg bowling arsenal, with only four batters reaching double-digit scores. Petros Mofokeng top-scored for his side, finishing undefeated on 31 runs.

Boksburg’s interim captain Adam Forbes and Haywood combined for 30 runs in a lacklustre start to the chase as they opened the home side’s batting innings.

However, Tyrone Cameron, next in line in the batting order, put the foot on the gas and the visitors out of their misery.

The duo secured the eight-wicket win for the home side as Cameron scored an unbeaten half-ton while Weldon finished the game undefeated on 26 runs.

Boksburg overhauled the asked target inside 19 overs. Next for the PG Park outfit is a trip to Alberton this Sunday. – @SabeloBoksburg
