Jacobs on the cusp of offroad grandeur

Parkrand quadbike racer Willie Jacobs is one win away from being crowned the Africa Offroad champion.

Jacobs (46) races in the Senior Quad Class and leads the Africa Offroad Racing Championship series by a single point over former off-road quad racing SA champion Boesman Struwig.

The decisive ninth and final race of the championship is scheduled to take place on November 5, in Parys, Free State.

Jacobs, the winner of the recently-held GXCC Lekoa Lodge race, in Villiers, is also featuring in the Club Championships, a tournament for racers from the club out of which he races and which he has already won with one race remaining.

The Club Champs’ ultimate showdown is on December 3, in Witpoort.

Last year he finished third overall in both the Africa and Club Championships.

His two daughters, Rize and Meghan, also race and compete in the Junior Quads Class, but will be moving up to the Women’s Quads Class, come 2017.

The GXCC Lekoa Lodge race was part of the Gauteng Cross-Country Championship and Jacobs did battle in the WOW Quads class.

Races for the Africa and Club championships are spread right across the year, running from January all the way to December.
