Carrim in supreme form at Junior Dancer of the Year

Local dancer Kaamilah Carrim was named the 2016 Junior Dancer of the Year, at the Supreme Dancer of the Year competition, held at Carnival City, in early September.

Her day culminated in her being crowned the queen of dancing this year, following a dominant display in which she was placed first in Solo Freestyle and Solo Slow Dance, before emerging as the day’s overall winner.

The achievement was the cherry on top for the 13-year-old who has already secured her spot to represent the country in the disco category, in Sweden, in November.

She earned this qualification after topping a series of qualifying events last year, which saw her win the South African Championship crown in Bloemfontein, also in November.

She also produced a flawless dancing display in August, this year, also at Carnival City, where she placed first in the WTC Disco Solo section and in the Freestyle Solo.

She then advanced to the Battle of the Juniors round, on the same day, and also finished as the overall winner of the Battle of the Juniors round.

She trains daily at Nikki Truter Dance Inspiration, in Boksburg. – @SabeloBoksburg
