Local bikini model Willemse stars at NABBA-WFF

Local bikini model Cindy Willemse was crowned champion at the NABBA-WFF SA Gauteng provincials recently held in Pretoria.

Willemse, who recently swapped IFBB for NABBA-WFF, took top honours in the open Sports Model Division which qualified her for the national championships scheduled for October 8, also in the Jacaranda City.

Should she emulate her exploits at the nationals, it will see her book her spot for the world championships which will take place in Ireland in November.

Quizzed on her latest achievement, the mother of one daughter said: “I was very nervous coming into the competition because after my decision to move federations, I didn’t know what to expect, but I went in open-minded.

“The pressure was on with my sponsors having a close eye and I just decided I’m going to kill it, I’m going to shine and just be the best I can be,” explained the 36-year-old.

It’s been a successful past few months for Willemse, whose selection for being the ambassador of beauty products company Hannon arrived just a few weeks before the provincials.

She was also chosen, earlier this year, to be the brand ambassador for giant health and sports brand, Biogen.

“I would like to give a special thanks to Alet Lemmer and Manie Lemmer (both from NABBA-WFF) for all their help and advice provided to all the athletes; also the professional way in which this first-class show was hosted.

“My experience is that this federation is really very accommodating toward their athletes, a relaxed, friendly but professional environment.

“Being appointed as the new Hannon brand ambassador, a huge thank you to Hannon Bothma and Julius Swart for their sponsorship and participation.

“A big shout out to the man who was and is forever checking that I’m on point, even phoning to check that I take my last meal – none other than my coach Lance Jacobson from 180 Degrees. Also my posing coach Jolene Levinson from Tweak for always watching my back.

“They’ve both been so helpful on a psychological level, which is very important.

“Thank you to my family for their never-ending help, support and understanding on my fitness journey. And to God for giving me the ability, health and strength to be in a fortunate position to do and participate in the sport I so truly love.” – @SabeloBoksburg
