Local gymnasts are flying high after being named for the South African Gymnastics Federation squad to compete in the Acrobatic Gymnastics World Championships and World Age Group Competition, scheduled for March 20 to April 5 in Putian, China.

Caitlin Weber (10), Kay-Lee van Eeden (12), Lara Scoones (12), Divan Willemse (15) and David Horswill (14) from Wild Flames Concordia Tumbling and Acrobatic Gymnastics Club in Boksburg were selected to represent the country at the prestigious World Age Group Competition.

The SA Team was named following the conclusion of the South African Gymnastics Championships and World Team Trials held in Pretoria and Benoni respectively.

The local gymnasts each nabbed gold medals at the 2015 South African Gymnastics Championships in Pretoria.

Wild Flames head coach Chris Botha will accompany the athletes to China as the national team coach.
